First post...whee

So. First weekend of freshman year, still trying to find that delicate balance between doing nothing and doing everything, successfully avoiding homework and spending every waking moment (and some unconscious ones) with friends.

Then I get an e-mail, and apparently I'm going to start a blog.

So...I'm Stephanie Donowho, and I'm taking Intro to Media Studies. I'm an officially-undeclared Communications freshman who is going to transfer to RTF as soon as possible. (Because apparently in the College of Communications you don't declare a major, you have to transfer into one.) That should pretty much cover why I'm taking this class, it being required for RTF majors and all, but that's not the only reason I'm here. I am actually really, really looking forward to this class. I opened the textbook this afternoon to read the first chapter (my attempts at avoidance were clearly short-lived) and ended up skimming through at least half of it.

I've grown up with media, and for better or for worse, I've decided to tie myself to the subject both in college and in any future career. I think the way humans exchange information is fascinating, especially in the increasing rapidity of the modern age. I hope this course gives me a better understanding of how exactly that is happening, and also what sort of part I can play in the process.

...yep, that pretty much covers it. I'm curious what the rest of this class holds, exactly, especially when it comes to this blogging thing.

A Favorite Blog: DFTBA. (Though a better place to start would be here.)
